These positions are for experienced medical joint finishers to work at the new Arthrex manufacturing facility in Ave Maria, FL.

Main Objective:

To produce superior products following Arthrex Manufacturing Inc. machining processes and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs Finishing Processes such as Media Blasting, buffing, grinding, deburring, cleaning, using volume finishing equipment as well as individual piece processing.
  • Achieves proper size, finish, and quality following blueprints and quality specifications.
  • Performs visual and GD&T inspection.
  • May train others to successfully perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Works well within a team environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Understands and follows Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Assists other areas with polishing process improvements.
  • Tracks daily supplies usage and notifies supervisor when replacement orders are needed.
  • Works with Engineering to polish implants to print specifications.
  • Performs work to ensure products meet regulatory requirements including, but not limited to FDA and ISO.
  • Utilizes special fixtures and gauges to ensure surface and dimensional retention.
  • Verifies accuracy, revision level and validity of paperwork, documentation and inspection tools prior to starting a job.
  • Inspects parts to drawings ensuring tolerances and cosmetic finish requirements are maintained using appropriate inspection tools and following approved inspection criteria.
  • Consistently achieves quality objectives.
  • Completes documentation of operations and quantities completed.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area utilizing 5S and other methods.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities including procedure, process, quality, and productivity improvements.
  • Trains and develops proficiency at standard work in assigned area.
  • Learns and applies concepts of lean manufacturing as applied in assigned area.
  • Adheres to and is compliant with all safety procedures and practices.
  • Timely reports any safety concerns or violations to management.
  • Engages in cross training activities to develop proficiencies.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent required; advanced technical certification or degree preferred.

Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience required, preferably with Total Joint products including Knees, Shoulder Stems, Hip Stems, Tibial Trays, Cups and other orthopedic products.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

A thorough knowledge of volume finishing equipment as well as manual finishing process including buffing, finishing, blasting and polishing is required.

Proficient with SAP Job tracking systems.  Advance blue print reading skills.  Proficient with measuring equipment and instruments. Demonstrates housekeeping etiquette.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Thorough working knowledge of polishing equipment and other methods to ensure product quality.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend and apply basic mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.

Language Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management. Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
