Main Objective:

Performs a variety of quality control test and inspection functions on materials, components and finished goods at various stages of the production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Read and comprehend dimensional criteria on parts using engineering drawings, specifications, Inspection procedures or work instructions.
  2. Knowledge of tools, measuring equipment and inspection procedures, including sampling plans to accurately inspect all types of incoming, first article, in-process or final components / assemblies/products for conformance to predetermined specifications.
  3. Uses precision measurement systems such as CMMs (coordinate measuring machines) and/or optical comparator machines in the inspection of product/components.
  4. Records data, applying statistical quality control procedures.

5.   Using documented history recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum overall quality.

6.   Performs as needed, destructive and/or nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.

7.   May specialize in a particular area of quality control such as incoming material, process control, and final inspection.

8.   Performs quality control equipment calibrations and records the data as required into Gage Trak.

9.   Primarily works unsupervised.

Has the ability to follow all safety training requirements for his/her position.  Notifies management and/or the Safety Officer of any unsafe work conditions that might arise immediately.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3-4 years experience in QC or related industry functions.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Ability to interpret and understand engineering prints and the ability to use measuring tools and devices. 

Must have mechanical aptitude and be detail oriented.

Inspects all levels of IP Finished Goods.

 Current knowledge of using precision instruments and understanding GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Understanding of IPC-600/610 Electrical Workmanship Requirements.

Understanding of Gage R&R and capability studies.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills: Standard hand measuring tools such as go/no-go gauges, rulers, caliper, profilometers, and micrometers. Must be able to determine and configure setup for component inspection utilizing items such as gauge blocks, DMMs, CMMs, and optical comparators.
