Arthex is seeking a proactive Facilities Supervisor with a strong safety background.   The ideal candidate has proven effective leadership experience, ability to effectively manage multiple projects, and doesn’t mind rolling up their sleeves to support their team.  Individual will be responsible for overseeing all functions associated with facilities and safety as we adapt to the rapid growth of our location.

Main Objective:  Under general supervision, oversees all functions associated with facilities to ensure optimal operating results. Ensures compliance with company policies and all state and federal regulations pertaining to Environmental Health and Safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:        

  • Applies discretion and independent judgement when scheduling facilities modifications including reviewing budget, cost estimates, bid specifications, layouts and contracts for construction and procurement. Negotiates and coordinates construction projects, remodels, and other special projects with contractors and management to ensure project scope and deadlines are being met.
  • Responsible for monitoring the performance of the cleaning and janitorial services company contracted for the facility to ensure the highest level of care and appearance.
  • Reviews submitted facility tickets daily and prioritizes tasks.  Develops and reports monthly metrics.
  • Manages the company’s security systems. Promptly responds to on-line monitoring systems such as security detection systems and fire control systems.
  • Works to continuously improve quality and processes and increase employee skills and capabilities.
  • Makes employment decisions and ensures a harmonious and productive work environment through effective and periodic individual/team meetings.  Ensures compliance with company and state and federal laws and regulations regarding wage and hour, timekeeping, and employment law.
  • Collaborates with corporate EH&S personnel to ensure effective implementation and compliance with EH&S policies and provides training for managers and employees accordingly.
  • Stays abreast of Cal OSHA and OSHA changes in regulations and notifies corporate EH&S promptly to ensure procedures and documents are in compliance.
  • Oversees the proper storage and disposal of on-site hazardous materials and chemicals in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. 
  • Maintains safety records and audits and supports the Safety Committee through effective mentorship and guidance to increase employee engagement.
  • Occasionally required to work flexible hours and weekends so as to minimize disruption to production operations and office staff.  Works primarily unassisted.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor’s degree in the Sciences, Engineering or Business Management discipline preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive facilities experience required.

Minimum of 2 years of strong leadership and performance management experience required.

Minimum of 2 years of experience managing EH&S duties in California strongly preferred.

Formal California Hazardous Waste training and OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:  Broad knowledge in electrical, mechanical, HVAC and other building maintenance preferred.  Project management system skills utilizing Playbook, MS Project, or Workfront preferred. Intermediate Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills preferred. Working experience with ERP systems preferred.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:  Demonstrated experience performing facilities duties and operating various light duty machines and hand tools.
