Positions may be on either first- or second shift (5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., respectively) on a a 10 hour/day, 4 day/week rotating crew schedule, with overtime as needed by the Company.  This position is intended for candidates experienced with the setup and operation of manufacturing machines and equipment, including especially packaging & assembly equipment.  Work location is the Arthrex manufacturing facility in Ave Maria, FL.

Main Objective

To set up and operate advanced assembly, packaging and inspection equipment to assemble and package products following Arthrex Manufacturing, Inc. processes and procedures ensuring superior quality is provided to our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Performs setup and operation of advanced final device assembly and packaging/inspection equipment according to established work instructions and within validated parameters.
  • Evaluates and troubleshoots equipment failures.  Makes basic repairs as necessary.
  • Confers with Maintenance and/or Engineering on equipment failures and repairs as necessary.
  • Enters maintenance orders in SAP.
  • Responsible for verifying and documenting calibration status, machine settings and test results as required per established work instructions and data collection forms for the DHR (Device History Record).
  • Trains Packaging Machine Operators and Packaging Technicians on the safe and proper operation of equipment.
  • Maintains tool inventory on the shop floor.  Responsible for proper storage, control, and identification of tooling and fixtures.
  • Responsible for in-process inspection as defined in established work instructions including use of micrometers and various gauges, cameras and inspection fixtures.
  • Produces samples for QC inspection; analyzes minor quality issues and takes corrective action.
  • Generates labels per packaging work order as listed on the bill of materials/routers and completes inspection documentation.
  • Responsible for using personal protective equipment as required and is trained in Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Follows programs, policies, and procedures in order to help the growth of Arthrex Manufacturing, Inc. as a world class medical device manufacturer.
  • Suggests process and safety improvement ideas.
  • Functions as backup Production Coordinator as required by business needs/growth with additional training as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of manufacturing experience required. 
  • At least 1 year of experience with advanced packaging and assembly equipment required.  Exposure to robotic assembly equipment preferred.
  • Requires reading and comprehension, solving simple mathematical equations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and the ability to perform tasks through verbal communication.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Ability to perform tasks by reading, understanding and following work instructions provided.

Ability to interpret Bills of Material, Routers, engineering drawings and schematic diagrams.

Ability to work independently.

Ability to perform different tasks/operation required to manufacture the product.

Ability to suggest process improvements and solve problems.

Ability to use inspection tools and measuring devices to assure quality of product.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Operation of: label printers, weighing scales, label dispensing machines, impulse pouch sealers, blister/tray sealers, part washing machines, crimping machines, arbor presses, pneumatic presses, wire cutters, tigon tube cutters, ultrasonic welders, shrink/heat ovens, laser markers, induction bonding machines, semi-automated assembly equipment with robotics, torque fixtures, optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, tappi charts, burst testers, electronic consoles.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, problem solve and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management. Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
