Main Objective:

Support all areas of the Arthrex Environmental, Health and Safety Program. Perform workplace inspections and training to maintain compliance with applicable OSHA and EPA Regulations and established procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Present training programs to personnel related the organization’s Environmental Health & Safety Management System.
  • Perform monthly Supervisor Train-the-Trainer Safety Presentations.
  • Maintain statistical data and prepare and present reports regarding occupational injuries and accidents.
  • Perform weekly EHS Inspections and periodically inspect Fire and Emergency systems.
  • Establish an annual training calendar where safety training by job title is identified and performed.
  • Maintain accurate training, inspection, and audit records.
  • Recognize and correct safety hazards in the workplace.
  • Must have flexible hours with occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Involvement in the maintenance of company safety teams.
  • Develop equipment and job specific hazard analysis.
  • Coordinate hazardous material handling, storage and disposal.
  • Must obtain First Aid, CPR and AED Certification and be willing and capable to provide first aid care to others.
  • Must maintain OSHA 30HR training certification.
  • Travel occasionally both local and abroad as necessary.
  • Coach and mentor all levels of the organization in EHS practices.
  • May supervise others
  • Act as the Laser Safety Officer for the Organization
  • Develop Electrical Safety Workplace program following NFPA 70E

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in occupational safety, health, or closely related field required.
  • Five years of experience in Occupational Safety, Health, or EHS department in manufacturing industry required.
  • Preference given to those with experience with ISO 14001 or OSHA’s VPP.
  • Preference given to those currently holding CSP (Certified Safety Professional) credentials

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/ Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Has the knowledge and skills necessary to interpret regulations, permits, and other technical data.
  • Experience with NFPA 70E
  • Ability to obtain Laser Safety Officer Certification the first year
  • Ability to obtain Certified Safety Professional in two years
  • Able to attend off-site training courses as necessary.
  • Minimum of First Aid, CPR and AED certified.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Computer skills to include Microsoft Office.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to work with others or alone to solve complex human or environmental issues.

Ability to read and interpret federal and state regulations.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above. Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management. Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
