This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline and at least three years of related experience.  The position will be located at the Arthrex manufacturing facility in Ave Maria, FL.

Strong PLC programming skills, programming experience with motion control devices, clean room experience and industrial electrical system design experience are all strongly preferred for this position.

Main Objective:

To provide engineering support in the areas of design, development, and sustainability for equipment used in the final device assembly and packaging department.  Author and maintain all required documentation relating to the equipment and processes within these departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support for electrical design and programming activities 
  • Support and contribute to the electrical design efforts for equipment builds.
  • Participate in equipment installations including panel wiring, mechanical component assembly, and programming.
  • Produce complete documentation packages for, but not limited to, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, equipment manuals, and preventive maintenance plans
  • Communicate justification for designs to internal customers, management, Finance, and engineering teams.
  • Develop design concepts for improving or replacing manual packaging and device assembly processes.
  • Manage projects and activities assigned using project management principles to ensure completion on time and within budget.
  • Develop work instructions, pFMEA, DOE, risk assesments, and equipment/process validation protocals
  • Capture and analyze test results in relation to specifications as well as test objectives and deterimine required action to improve equipment operation.
  • Support all Packaging Manufacturing Engineering activities as it pertains to automation or equipment projects.
  • Support production as needed concerning equipment issues to minimize production down time.
  • Review and generate engineering change requests and router modifications as required.
  • Communicate project details and progress to Engineering Management, Sr. Mfg. Engineers, and cross-functional team members.
  • Manage all documentation required for projects and duties assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline required.
  • At least three years of related experience required
  • Medical device or pharmaceutical experience preferred
  • Strong PLC programming skills, programming experience with motion control devices, clean room experience and industrial electrical system design experience are all strongly preferred for this position.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing process
  • Ability to design mechanical devices using 3D software
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic electronic, electrical and pneumatic circuit prints
  • Solidworks experience preferred
  • PLC programming experience preferred
  • HMI programming experience preferred
  • Experience assembling mechanical components per print specifications
  • Experienced user of MS Office Suite
  • Basic understanding of Project Management Principles

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

Working Knowledge of machine theory

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements. 

Language and Communication Skills:

Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.  Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
