Arthrex Manufacturing is seeking a dynamic Operations Director to lead the startup of the new medical Device manufacturing facility currently being constructed in Sandy Springs SC.  The successful candidate will lead a matrixed team and ensure the site matches the best of Arthrex with the best of the upstate SC region.  Primarily competencies will include: leadership, community networking, operations excellence and ensuring a strong quality and safety culture are implemented.  Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this position will be responsible for positioning the site for growth to an anticipated 1000 team members with the first six years. 

Main Objective:

To lead, oversee and provide direction to the appropriate manufacturing department (Sutures, Packaging, Operations, Materials or Finishing) that will effectively and profitably meet or exceed the internal and /or external client’s expectations by providing superior quality products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates production in accordance with policies, principles and procedures.
  • Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines and employees involved in department production.
  • Manages production workflow and detailed capacity analysis planning.
  • Reviews production costs and product quality.
  • Develops staffing requirements and sets priorities for production schedules based on new product introduction, equipment efficiency and materials supply.
  • Assumes responsibility of the implementation and maintenance of the departments manufacturing methods.
  • Leads, or effectively participates in, cross-functional AMI Staff efforts to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the manufacturing division.
  • Maintains and/or implements programs, policies, and procedures to support to AMI as a world class medical device and products manufacturer.
  • Ensures that production goals are consistently met.
  • Leads multiple shifts of Managers, Supervisors and Support Staff; involved in planning/scheduling workflow.
  • Up to 20% of travel (mostly to the Ave Maria, FL, facility as needed)

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required.

10 years of manufacturing work experience required.

A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience required.

Must be well versed in all FDA, ISO, and OSHA compliance issues. 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Thorough knowledge of Manufacturing Operations related to the appropriate department.

Excellent organizational, leadership/decision making, and communication skills.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC, Microsoft Office, and ERP systems. SAP experience a plus.

We expect this employee to spend 50% of their time from when being hired in 2018 to when the Plant opens in 2019 at our Manufacturing plant in Ave Maria, Florida.
